Gretchen
Gretchen…we all fell in love with her at first sight on your website. We had not thought about actually adopting another dog at that time but we felt we just had to adopt her. I still remember the ride home. Upon entering the house she ran across the room, jumped up on the couch and growled at the other three dogs in the room as if to say “I am in charge now”. They all got along fine after that. She was a joy to have as wherever I was, there she was. If in a chair she was in the chair with me. She slept in the big bed until this last year when wetting became a problem. She would lay right up against me and sometimes almost push me out of bed. Saying goodbye was one of the most difficult things we have ever had to do. We still have her picture in the living room where she is with her 3 sisters that have also passed. Mary says seeing pictures of a long haired chocolate dachshunds still make her catch her breath thinking it is Gretchen. Our hearts are still heavy and breaking from missing her but we are thankful that we had ten years of enjoyment with her.
The funeral home where she was cremated was to put her ashes in the rose garden for 2017 pets that have passed, (https://petrestinc.com/). This is where our previous pets will spend eternity, however, they sent her back to me. I have ordered a beautiful urn where she will remain on our dresser. It makes us feel as though she is somehow still with us.

Harley
Harley was adopted in February 2011. He had been neglected in his former life but this boy hit the lotto after coming to AADR. He was adopted into a home with another Dachshund and he and Oscar became best buddies. Sadly, he passed in 2017, but he did live six years knowing love and happiness. To learn more about him, visit our Memorial Page.
Sammy RIP
Sammy we are so sorry we could not save you, we tried. RIP sweet little boy now I know you can hear and see..until we meet again...All American Dachshund Rescue and owner Melissa
Angel
Angel you were a great addition to my furfamily and was loved so much. I was so glad when AADR rescued you and I became your mom. I wished I could have had you longer but we had a great 3 years together. Until we see each other again know that your Mom loved you very much. Passed 5-18-2017
Cinnie Ruby
We adopted our sweet Cinnie in October of 2011. She was our 4th Dachshund adopted from AADR, and the oldest of the bunch. She had the sweetest face ever. When she looked at you with those soft, brown eyes you just wanted to love on her!! We miss her so much!
Our Cinnie girl, wait for us at the Rainbow Bridge!
Love you always,
Mom and Dad
