Bea aka Brittney RIP
BEA We adopted Bea (f/k/a “Brittany”) on December 29, 2019, when she was already 13+ years old. Originally from Kentucky, Bea was truly a southern belle, as she didn’t care for cold weather, especially with snow, rain or wind. The old gal was pretty frail, yet she never complained. Bundled up in her blanket, and if really chilly, a warmed towel too, she was always kept snug and cozy. Come the nice weather, Bea’s favorite pastime, aside from eating, was sunbathing in our yard. She would spend what seemed like hours finding just the right spot, then when her sunbeam became obstructed, she would again search for the ideal spot to rest her weary bones. Sadly, Bea was senile, completely deaf and had difficulty seeing, so she rarely interacted with our other 13-year-old Doxie, Shorty. Nonetheless, so long as the sun was shining, Bea was always content. We began to see a rapid decline in Bea over the past few weeks. In Bea’s own way, she began telling us that it was time for her to cross over the Rainbow Bridge and that she would be waiting for us on the other side. Knowing that another winter would be just too much for her to endure, with the sage guidance of our veterinarian, we made the difficult, yet humane decision to let her go. Bea passed away peacefully in my arms, with a tummy full of all her favorite treats on October 13, 2020; less than ten months since she joined our little clan. Our entire family wishes we had known her years ago, as we are certain that she had truly been a “Belle of the Ball

Ty
RIP dear sweet boy. Sadly we only had four weeks, but you were loved every minute of the days we were together. I believe with all my heart that Marty, Callie, Mickey, Izzy, Faith, and Grace have welcomed you with open arms to the Rainbow Bridge where we will meet again one day. XXXOOO :-) Meg

Butterscotch RIP 10/03/2020
Our sweet 13 year old Butterscotch crossed over the rainbow bridge on October 3, 2020. She was a joy and blessing to us and our other Dachshund, Johnson. She loved to eat, especially loved to sleep in the sun, and she was a great campanion since we adopted her 5 years ago from AADR. We were hoping for more time with her, but it was time for her to go. We will miss her always and we are very thankful that we could give her the best 5 years of her life - Wendy Steinbacher

Stella - RIP September 2020
Stella's family had to help her go to heaven. She was in her favorite spot in the backyard surrounded by family and her doggy sister, and had enjoyed 24 hours of all her favorite places and things. I believe she was 14 years old. They enjoyed every minute of the last six years with Stella, and thanked us for bringing her into their lives. - Mindy Jenkins, Foster Mom

Spike

To our middle guy, Spike.

Spike just turn 14 on 8/14 and spent the last 3+ years with us. I’ll never forget the day Wendell (from AADR) called me to discuss Spikes quirks after we submitted our adoption papers. We couldn’t wait to have him be ours.

Wendell was kind enough to drop him off on his way past our house. Spike came with his blue blanket, goodie bag, red collar and his grumpy old man attitude. Over the 3+ years, Spike went from being a dog scared of everything and nipping your nose, to being a cuddle dog and going with the flow.

Spike fought an uphill battle, but never once complained about all the vet visits, bloodwork or medicine he had to take. He never wanted us to see him weak. He LOVED the sunshine, electric heater, sleeping, chick-fil-a grilled nuggets, hot dogs and chicken.

He did whatever we asked of him to without complaint. Although he never ‘smiled’ and scarcely wagged his tail, I know he loved his brothers & us by how relax he became from when he first arrived.

It’s hard imagining our lives without him. When adopting senior dogs, you know your time is short, but you also know it’s packed full of unconditional love that lacked for most of their lives. I’m so blessed Wendell allowed us to care for Spikey in his senior years. We will miss him tremendously, but I know he knows how much we will always love him.

Forever our Roon! Love Mommy, Daddy, Amie & Addi
