Wheatley
On January 3rd, 2018, I had to say goodbye to my best friend Wheatley. While I had only been his new mom for a little over a year, he brought so much joy into my life. Wheatley was a once in a lifetime little dog; he was so special and claimed a spot in the hearts of everyone who met him. I will miss the pitter-patter of his stubby little legs. I will miss him following me around the house, begging for "just one more" throw of his favorite tennis ball. I will miss his endearing, sticky-out tongue. It was an arduous battle trying to manage his medical issues, from cushing's to cancer, but he remained happy and loving until the very end. I miss you so much, my Growly Bear. My Goobie. My Little Prince. I will love you forever and always. You changed my life for the better. Amanda
Schotz 12/05/17 RIP
Even though we were given almost a year to prepare, it wasn't enough. Our beloved Schotzie passed away in her sleep last night after a long, hard fought battle with Leukemia. The past few days were rough and we knew her time with us was coming to an end. A dear friend said to me a few months ago "You know, Schotz is such a Diva she's not going to go until she's ready and she's going to make the call". He was right. I'm thankful I didn't have to make the decision but even more thankful she went peacefully. RIP Queen Ween Schotz you were dearly loved and will be greatly missed...Love Kim(mommy)
Minnie #9
RIP you sweet sweet girl that was never given a chance to adapt to your new home as your new adopter didn't understand how very scared you were and allowed you to escape. We are heartbroken....
Sabrina
Sabrina with her care taker, Carol, at a hotel in Panama City, FL where Jeff Barnes & I (Drew Whitaker) picked up Sabrina and drove her to her forever home in Daytona Beach Shores, FL.
Carol believed that Sabrina was from a puppy mill in Arkansas. Looking in Sabrina's frightened eyes broke my heart during our drive from Panama City, FL to Daytona Beach Shores, Fl. I would only leave her for any length of time during the 6 years, 9 months we had her. She, an angel if there was ever one, would spoil me to death with her pure love. In each others hearts we'll be together forever. Thanks. Loving regards, Drew Whitaker & Jeff Barnes
Gretchen
Gretchen…we all fell in love with her at first sight on your website. We had not thought about actually adopting another dog at that time but we felt we just had to adopt her. I still remember the ride home. Upon entering the house she ran across the room, jumped up on the couch and growled at the other three dogs in the room as if to say “I am in charge now”. They all got along fine after that. She was a joy to have as wherever I was, there she was. If in a chair she was in the chair with me. She slept in the big bed until this last year when wetting became a problem. She would lay right up against me and sometimes almost push me out of bed. Saying goodbye was one of the most difficult things we have ever had to do. We still have her picture in the living room where she is with her 3 sisters that have also passed. Mary says seeing pictures of a long haired chocolate dachshunds still make her catch her breath thinking it is Gretchen. Our hearts are still heavy and breaking from missing her but we are thankful that we had ten years of enjoyment with her.
The funeral home where she was cremated was to put her ashes in the rose garden for 2017 pets that have passed, (https://petrestinc.com/). This is where our previous pets will spend eternity, however, they sent her back to me. I have ordered a beautiful urn where she will remain on our dresser. It makes us feel as though she is somehow still with us.
Stuart, Mary and Matthew
