Cookie
A little after 11:00 on August 30, our beloved Cookie had a heart attack while at the vet for her annual checkup, and she slipped away, unable to be revived. Adopted from Decatur, Alabama in 2006, following Hurricane Katrina, Cookie had an understandable, lifelong dislike of water, as well as a lifelong suspicion of Michael, who never once gave her any reason to doubt him. Cookie was always a Mama's girl, sticking by my side wherever I'd go, and snuggling up next to me in bed at night to sleep. Her favorite thing to do in the whole world was to go to Grandma's house, because Grandma knew how to rub Cookie's head just the right way, and because Grandma was an excellent cook, making chicken and rice for Cookie every time. Cookie will be terribly, horribly missed.

Fritz
Please meet Fritz. Fritz was an "owner surrender" from South Texas in Aug. of 2008. Fritz was surrendered because his owner had recently married and his new wife did not like him. We understand Fritz was at that time 8 to 9 years old. He did not stand much of a chance until AADR stepped in and rescued him. We had just applied to be fosters with AADR and Fritz/Fallon were going to be our first Rescue Fosters. They were also our first "Foster Failures". Fritz was a foster for one whole month before we knew we could not let him go. We called Fritz our "Grumpy Old Man". He was very opinionated about where he wanted to sleep, how he was to be picked up and when he wanted attention. He was NOT shy about letting you know his opinion. My wife Lorie quickly became his person and his champion. If she was not around, I became an acceptable stand in. WE loved him and his idiosyncrasies. He shared our lives for seven years to the month. He then left us to go to the "Rainbow Bridge". Fritz was between 15 and 16 years old. Now blind with cataracts and with few teeth left. WE loved him and will miss him and his antics but we now had to let him go. Fritzie, Please be at peace. Passed over the "Rainbow Bridge" at 10:30 AM, Friday Sept. 9, 2016. We pray, we will again find you, wait for us and you brothers and sisters. Thank you AADR for your work and finding Fritz for us to love. Bill and Lorie Duncan

Grace
Grace (formerly Cupid#3)was a 5 year old Double Dapple Dachshund. She was born blind and deaf and found wandering alone by the side of a road in Michigan. That's when All American Dachshund Rescue saved her. I adopted her April 3, 2016. She had 3 sisters to show her learn the ropes in her new home. With the help of ramps, she was able to go outside through a doggie door and get up on my bed, whenever she wanted. In early July, she became lethargic and her gums were turning white. She was diagnosed with IMHA, Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. Her body was attacking itself. Over a two month period, she received four blood transfusions in an effort to save her life. But in the end her little body could not take it. She passed away in my arms on September 13, 2016. I was only lucky enough to have her for 6 months. While she was sick, i was praying for a miracle. But I realized she WAS the miracle. #myamazingGrace

Sadie
Sadie #3 came to live with me in Florida after I had to put my 15+ yo dachsie (also from AADR) to sleep. The first month after I got her, she could not get enough hugs or petting and soaked up all the affection she could get. What a sweetie. I only had her for such a very short time but it was enough to form a very close bond. She developed a condition where she could not breathe through her nose and because of that, produced copious amounts of saliva and thus could not drink or eat. I truly miss her sweet hugs. She was a wonderfully sweet little girl and I miss her awfully.

Wall-E
Wall-E, we failed you and that will always be a sadness that we can never get past, cut down in the prime of his life and cut too short, we love and will always miss you and what you could have been, we are sorry. Members and BOD of AADR
