Happy Tales
Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...
Harley's Brave Journey Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Patience...TN
I am so gratified that you are checking up on Patience. I am truly impressed that your organization is taking the time to follow up on her well being.
The adjustment is going well overall. There have been a few downs, but mostly ups. She has only been with us for 7 weeks, so in the grand scheme of things, I am pleased with her to no end.
She did test positive for hookworms, but that has been treated and she is now negative.
It is obvious that she has been abused in her past life. When you go to pick her up, she cowers down, almost to the point where she looks like she's trying to urinate. This will get better with time. Lots of love and play time with Dixie (my other mini-doxie) and Tatum (my Cardigan Welsh Corgi) and I'm confident that she will come to understand that she no longer has to be afraid.
Last night we had a terrible thunderstorm come through and I discovered that she does not like the thunder and lightening. I mean she was really terrified. I have checked into these "thunder shirts" and wonder if you know anything about them. The reviews that I have read suggest that it works for some dogs and not others.
She has one of the most wonderful temperments of any dog I have been around. Despite the fact that her life was not so hot until she was rescued, she is just as friendly as she can be. She has the most round and precious eyes as well. She's been a great addition to the household and she is not going anywhere. Thanks for the opportunity to rescue her.
Aubie 2...FL
Aubie is doing great, he is a love bug,
He gets along well with my other rescue Wire-haired dachshund Katie Rose .
He loves to walk on the beach, he found a big fish on the shore the other day and ate his head.. Haha
A real hunter, and he protects me barking at other dogs:))
He is potty trained now, he follows me everywhere and even if asleep on the couch , wakes up the moment he hears someone in the kitchen! His fave place in the house cause there is food!! And of course he looooves cuddling ...
I love him!
Thank u for everything that you guys do to find a good home for all the Dachshunds in the US.
Lexie...OH
I am absolutely in love with Lexie. She fits perfectly into my life! She seems to be pretty happy with me as well :-)
Aiden...GA
We have renamed Aiden to Ferrell to go with Farley. He has loved all his classes that we have taken and he enjoys hanging out with us and our friends' dogs. He is such a cuddle bug and he wrestles with Farley and they are just the best of buddies now. We will be working on getting our AKC Canine Good Citizen certifications potentially starting Rally or Agility classes in the spring. We are so very thankful for having him in our lives. We will definitely recomend AADR to anyone who is interested in adopting a Dachshund in the future. Thank you very much for checking on our little buddy and feel free t
BLISS aka BITZY....TN
Hi Kathy and Diane ,
I just wanted to let you all know that Gracie is truly the perfect fit for me! I've taken her on 2-mile jogs with me before so today I was running the Snowflake 5K here in Nashville and decided to take Gracie, and planned to walk rather than run. Gracie, however, had different plans! She was the FIRST PLACE dog finisher and we ran the ENTIRE 3 miles around Shelby Park. We finished in 29:30, which is slower than my normal pace but WAY faster than I expected her to run! I still finished 6th in my age group of girls!
Gracie had so much fun running on the trails and getting lots of attention from everyone afterwards. I've attached a picture of the little champion!
I hope you are doing well and just wanted to let you know how much I truly love Gracie and how great of a fit we are!!
Katie
