Happy Tales

Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...

Harley's Brave Journey   Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. Raccine...NY

Raccine is doing well. She has a new name – Nora – in honor of the woman who first found her in the cold barn where she lived for the first 16 months of her life. She is learning how to be a happy dog. She is still somewhat skittish, but she loves to be held, loves to hang out on the couch, and loves her 2 square meals a day. She is still underweight but she is putting on the ounces! I have another dachshund – Silas. He is being a good and loving big brother. We had a milestone just the other day. Silas has been trying to get Nora to play, and Nora had no idea what playing is. She just looked at Silas with a “huh?” expression. On Sunday, all of a sudden Nora started romping around with Silas. And when he decided he had enough, she barked at him to continue – her first bark. I can truly say that every day she gets more comfortable, seems happier, and feels more secure. Last week we had temperatures that dipped to 5 degrees, and I can’t help but think that she would have died if she were still in that barn. Thanks to AADR she has a new, safe life. I’ve attached a picture of Nora and another shot of Nora and Silas. Thanks again for all the good work you do. Kristin
