BIO: After having Beans in the foster home with Hank and seeing how well they get along and always playing and lying together we just can't separate them.   So, we are taking a leap of faith and hoping that someone wants to adopt two and have an instant family. These two are like two peas in a pod.  Hank has been good for Beans because Hank is so social, and Beans is more reserved.  What do you say? Want to take that leap?

Do you want a rescue dog, or do you want to “rescue” a dog?  Beans came from OH when sadly he did not care for the toddler that had come into the home and for the safety of the child he had to come to rescue.

Beans is a wonderful dog ONCE he gets to know you.  He was not well socialized and is fearful of strangers.  Beans cannot go to a busy household but more of a quiet one with few visitors.  if properly introduced to them, he would be ok.  No children as their quick movements and loud voices would scare him.

Hank has been good for Beans and has helped him be less fearful.  They make a great pair and love to play for hours.  If you adopt these two you have built in entertainment.  Don't let Beans lack of socialization scare you off.  Once he warms up to you, he's fine.  You just have to give him a little space for the first couple of hours.

Now for the good stuff about Beans: he’s sweet, loving, and loves to play with Hank.  (Please take a look at "Hank in TN" on our website.)  WHY NOT consider Hank along with Beans and have an instant family??  Hank's open friendliness would rub off on Beans and you would have two playful pups to entertain you all day and when they finally did wear out, they would be great lap warmers.

Our must haves for Beans:

  • A fenced in yard
  • Another young small dog and well socialized for him to learn from (Hank)
  • Someone that can be home more than not
  • No apartments, high rises, or condos please

If you feel you are ready to help Beans overcome his fear of strangers or want an instant family then apply for Beans and Hank, you won’t be sorry.

 ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
