BIO: Will be updated soon!

Buddy is a sweet little guy who came to us when his previous owners surrendered him.  Buddy spent his whole life with these owners, so he is a little lost and confused and desperately wants to find his new forever home so he can settle in and feel secure again.

Buddy would do best in a home with no children.  He would do well as an only dog, or with other dogs.  He interacts well with my two male dachshunds, but does not need their company.  Buddy’s main focus in life is being with his owner and giving them all the love in his little body, so if you want a protector and a little cuddle bug, Buddy is your man!  That said, Buddy loves his person so much that he does have guarding tendencies, and will growl at other people that come by, so his forever home must be aware that he gets very attached to one person and wants to protect them.

Buddy is a joy to have around!  He sleeps in his crate at night and doesn’t even make a peep, he’s not food or toy aggressive, and he’s very, very sweet.  Did I mention he loves to burrow?  He’s a little guy and loves to get warm under blankets, all the better if he can burrow and snuggle up to his human at the same time!

If you’re looking for an affectionate and loving doxie, contact Kait ( kait.cassell@gmail.com ) for more information!  Buddy would make a wonderful addition to a home that is patient with him and willing to train him to modify his guarding behavior.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
