BIO:  Hi!!!  My name is TOOTSIE and I came from northern Alabama from a lady who sadly put me on Craig’s List for free.  Lucky for me, AADR saw the post and off to Alabama they went to rescue me!  Don’t let my frosty face fool you; I am a very active girl for my age.  I LOVE playing with toys, romping around with my foster brothers and at night, I enjoy sleeping in the big bed too.

Oh, and did I say I LOVE belly rubs?!

I like to protect my home from strange noises so an apartment would not be ideal for me as I can be vocal.  Since I’m an active gal, I would need a fenced yard so I can run around and play.  I’m leash trained and will go on long walks as well!  Foster mommy likes to go walking so I have lost a couple pounds and only have a couple more to go!  I am working on my housetraining and I’m doing well as long as I’m on a schedule.  I think I would be fine as an only dog but I wouldn’t mind a friend either, but a home with children would not be a good fit for me as I would be frightened.

I’m in great health and just had a fresh dental so my teeth are nice and pearly white.

I would love to be your love bug... would you be mine?

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Likes to play with toys, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
