Jose-- 6 years old, 11 pounds but very overweight...needs to be about 7-8 pounds, very laid back, extremely loving and sweet, hangs back waits his turn for loving. Will let you trim his nails, but hates baths. He's been neutered for years and just had his teeth cleaned. Heartworm negative and on Heartgard and Frontline. He's housebroken...doesn't seem to be a marker and just a cuddler all the way. He is a sweetheart!
He has to go with PIGLET and that's why we are holding down there adoption fee so it won't cost too much and you'll get two for the price of one. Jose is the pure bred dachshund and PIGLET is his half brother. They both had the same momma but different daddy's. Piglet's daddy was a Chihuahua. These two are very bonded and have been together all their lives and we just can't split them up. Their owner died and the family couldn't keep them cause they had young children and these two are not used to young kids and they didn't get along with them. If you are interested in adopting these two please go online to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online app and be sure to put JOSE & PIGLET on the app. You will be double bless by adopting these two.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
