Meet Fritz #2, a true sweetheart!  Fritz will be a little scared moving to a new home, but he soon warms up and will be your best buddy.  He’s not a big kisser, but he sure loves to snuggle with you!  Fritz was hit by a car in late November/early December 2019.  His left rear leg and pelvis were fractured.  The rescue who first took him in had surgery done to repair his fractures including a metal plate and 9 screws.  Fritz recovered well and you’d never know he had been so seriously injured.  That other rescue then reached out to AADR to find Fritz a home.  AADR realized that Fritz needed to have extensive dental surgery to repair the holes left from having so many teeth extracted during a dental.  His gum flap surgery was done in Florida on 4/8/2020. He will be available to go to his forever home after his follow-up exam on 5/7, but you don’t have to wait to apply to adopt him.

A few things about Fritz:

  • He walks well on a leash.
  • He loves to check for critters either on my lanai or in the fenced yard.
  • He has a bossy bark when he wants something so he probably would not do well in an apartment unless you are home a lot.
  • He’s a sweet boy and a great snuggler!

Fritz has only been in his foster home for 10 days, so we’ll know more about him as he settles in and recovers from his dental surgery. You can reach out to his foster mom (Meg at meg1709@comcast.net) if you have a specific question, otherwise please fill out an application for this wonderful little guy!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
