BIO:

I hear that I am a very handsome boy and quite a unique to say the least!  I am a double dapple---a breeding combination that often leads to birth defects, typically with vision and/or hearing.  I was no exception and have a partially formed right eye that looks like it has a tear duct and not much more.  My left eye is clear blue and I see perfectly from the left eye.  Functionally, I have NO handicaps whatsoever and no known medical needs more than any other doxie.

I will run, play with toys, or chase my foster brother and sister (when I can get them in the mood for it), recognizes boundaries, and run up/down the few stairs leading from the porch to the yard. Until you look directly at me, you do not know I have any vision impairment.  I have an outgoing personality that enjoys meeting people and other dogs and I walk well on a leash.

I LOVE to snuggle.  In fact, if you are sitting down to watch TV or just relax, well then I am your doxie.  Hanging out with my people and relaxing are two of my favorite things to do.

I am working on making sure I go outside all the time for my potty breaks.  I still have an accident from time to time.  However, my human buddy says I am doing great and should have it down in no time at all.  He says that a regular schedule is what I need and it seems to be working pretty good.

When it’s time to go to bed I love to snuggle right next to you in the big bed.  I really like having a big and soft bed with blankets to snuggle into. I think I could really get use to this.  During the day I like to snuggle on the doggie bed with my foster brother and sister.  I have made my way to the couch a few times to on my own.  It has a nice blanket that I like to burrow under during the day.

I am a little bit on the overweight side, but we are working on getting me down to a happy and healthy 14-15 pounds.  Look out ladies, once I am in my trim form.  The best thing my dad is doing is giving me a great and healthy dog food with only the occasional carrots as treats.

If you are looking for a special boy to add to your family, I will bring sunshine, snuggles, and wet kisses to your home.  I’m overflowing with happiness and playfulness.  I guess I just want what everyone else wants - a buddy and family to love me and that I can love back.  I think I would make someone a great forever buddy.  I have all the greatest attributes of a cute and lovable little doxie gentleman.  Why not check me out and find out how we can be a great team together?

More about RUDY..... FL

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
