BIO: Hi folks! My name is Briar Rose, but my foster mom just calls me Rose or Rosie. She doesn’t have to call me very often ‘cause I like to be close to her so I am never too far away! LOL!
I was surrendered by my owner in middle Tennessee when I was badly in need of a dental and the family couldn’t afford it. The vet contacted AADR and of course, AADR stepped up to take me and get me a much-needed dental. I surprised everyone when I came out of surgery still having several teeth, including my four canines... woohoo! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to eat and came into rescue weighing nearly 15 pounds. My foster mom knows how important it is for my general health, and especially my spine, to not be overweight, so I’ve been eating smaller meals of a special kibble for weight loss. And VERY few treats. I am looking REALLY good these days!
BTW, I am 100% doxie. I have adorable short little legs, fat paws, and big ears that flap when I walk. I promise you’ll smile when you see me walking toward you! I do have a big voice and might not be the best fit for an apartment or high-rise. If I can hear the neighbors walking by or doors opening and closing, I’m likely to bark. Hey, I said I was ALL dachshund! I sleep in dog beds throughout the house during the day and one in the bedroom next to my foster mom at night. I REALLY like having blankets in my beds cause I’m a burrower. Remember 100% doxie! I sleep all through the night without any issues. Well, unless you consider a little snoring an issue. My foster mom thinks it’s cute!
My wish list for my forever home includes:
- A fenced yard is preferred, but I walk well on a leash and would be happy sunning on a porch or lanai.
- Someone who home a lot would be nice, since I love to be with you.
- I would be happy as an only dog since that is what I was used to before.
Oh, I almost forgot. I was recently diagnosed with Cushing’s Syndrome. Currently I am taking one 5 mg. Vetoryl tablet every morning. My foster mom will be able to tell you more. In fact, she can even email you a pamphlet regarding Cushing’s. Contact my foster mom, Meg, because she wants to find me the PERFECT forever home. I hope it’s you!!!
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
