BIO: Snoopy was given up due to his owners moving into a new place.  The owner at that time gave him to her parents to “watch” until she could find a new place.  After months of caring for Snoopy the parent of the owner then surrendered him to a shelter because they were no longer able to care for him.

Snoopy came in very overweight (at about 30#’s) but with his foster mother’s help has slimmed down a bit.  Someone who can keep an eye on his weight would be a good fit for him.  Every day he gets either yummy green beans, carrots or cottage cheese with his food to help him slim down.

Snoopy is a wonderfully mellow boy.  He just goes with the flow of things. Snoopy does fine with cats in the house if they don’t run from him. A home with children over the age of 8 and/or other dogs would be fine. Snoopy got very sick a little while ago, he was not eating and couldn’t keep his food down.  He went to the vet and was on IV fluids and antibiotics and was fighting for his life.  After 2 days in the hospital Snoopy had a turning point. Snoopy is now fully recovered now,
 Snoopy’s vet bills were very high and we still need help with them -

Do you have room for a new furry friend?  Snoopy has a spring in his step and a smile on his face now. He looks so wise and wonderful. Snoopy LOVES everyone. He is a champion under the cover snuggler and will sit in your lap for hours.  He loves to have his smooth as velvet ears rubbed and will love you FUREVER. 

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
