BIO UPDATE (7/6/23):  Foster Mom update:

Bruno has his bags packed and is ready to go to his forever home. He needs a home where he will have another young doxie or two to play with. He has enough energy to play with multiple dogs and still has energy left over for zoomies. He also has an off switch where he just chills and cuddles with the family. He believes in co-sleeping and expects to sleep in the Big Bed. He has a bedtime routine where he will shower you with soft kisses before diving under the covers.

He is good with men and women. He is alert and will inform you if there are any possible intruders near your door. He will let you know if there is a mouse in the house or varmints (squirrels, bunnies, moles, toads) on your property.

If you feel you can provide him with a quality home where he will thrive, please complete an adoption application.

BIO:  Bruno came from Tennessee when his previous owners decided rescue was the perfect place to find him the best home. Bruno is a sweetheart of a dog! He loves other dogs and likes to play, play, play, so a home with another small,  young dog for him to play with is a MUST for this sweet boy. He’s had a fresh dental and has been microchipped, and is now ready for his forever home. Bruno does submissive pee a little, but that’s an easy fix. As soon as he gets accustomed to his new home, that should stop (if you take our tips).

Our must-haves for little Bruno are:

  • A fenced yard
  • No apartments, high-rises, or condos
  • Another young, small dog for him to play with (he has always been around other dogs and therefore would not do well as an only dog)
  • Someone who could be home most of the time, but we think he would be okay as long as there is another young, small dog to keep him company

If you meet our requirements, then please go to our website and apply online for him. You really won’t be sorry... he’s a catch!

 ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
