We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast. Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. BIO: Stretch is a wonderful standard size dachshund. He
is very high energy and requires training to prevent him from jumping too much.
He is a big snuggler and loves to take naps and sleep in bed with you. He is
also quite content with sleeping in his own bed near you at night. During the
day, Stretch is well behaved and also crate trained so if you would prefer to
crate him when you’re not home he is fine. He loves toys and is always playing
with any type he can get a hold of. It’s a good idea to keep toys around the
house to keep him busy. He also likes to play tug of war with a rope toy. He is
extremely toy driven. Stretch was surrendered to us because he had a limp. It
was originally thought that he might have some back issues; however this is not
the case. After being seen by a vet, he has been diagnosed with luxating patella’s
which is sliding knee caps. Stretch needs to have good walks on a daily basis
to keep his leg muscles tight so that his condition won’t get worse. On
occasion he may also need so pain medication but this is rare. Stretch is a
wonderful companion and gets along well with other dogs both dachshunds and
other breeds, large and small. Stretch would do best in a home where he would
get a lot of attention and exercise. Please consider giving Stretch the home he
deserves.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our
dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them
to go by ground transport.
If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then
there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK
YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about STRETCH...RI
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
