BIO:

Britt is a gorgeous little lady with a beautiful velvety coat and tender expressive eyes. She is very intelligent and tries hard to please, but she is also very timid which causes her to panic and get into trouble at times. Britt was surrendered by a breeder's husband when his wife died.  She had not been socialized and has come a long way since she moved in with her foster family three months ago.  Britt has lots of energy and loves to play, but she prefers to be held and is very affectionate to the people who have earned her trust. She is 80% housetrained as long as she has access to a doggie door or is taken out on a regular basis. Britt enjoys going for walks, rides well in the car, and loves to run outside.  However, new sounds and situations frighten her so she definitely needs a fenced yard. Britt gets along well with other dogs but she is nervous around young children. Although Britt barks when she is nervous, she is definitely not aggressive--she is just unsure of herself.  Britt needs a lot of patience, trust, and reassurance and is looking for a  forever home that will continue to encourage her to come out of her shell.  With a little love and understanding this beautiful dachshund has the potential of becoming the most loving companion you have ever had. Won't you give her a chance?

More about BRITT....MO

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
