FOSTER HOME Stephanie smburmei@comcast.net

Bubbles found herself homeless when her mom became widowed and was having difficulty with health and finances. She was turned in with her life-long friend, Oscar B who is available for adoption also. Bubbles was very sick when she came to her foster home. She had blood in her urine and was treated for a week for a UTI—without success. Soon, the vet knew something more was going on and bladder stones were diagnosed. Bubbles underwent surgery and the vet removed the largest quantity and size of bladder stones she had ever seen in her career! Needless to say, Bubbles is feeling much better and is playful, chasing toys, and running in the back yard. The blood in her urine has gone away and she is proving herself to be reliably housetrained. She has a little urine leakage from time-to-time that should diminish as she heals and the internal swelling goes away.  Bubbles does not need a special diet or care and will suffer no long-term side effects of the bladder stones.

Now that Bubbles is feeling well, her foster mom is finding her to be quite a character! She’s love her people (her foster dad is wrapped around her little paw!) and is a “lap hog”. She is a bit cautious of new situations/sounds, but not particularly skittish and is not yappy. She enjoys being in the back yard, sunning on the porch, and hanging out with her family.  Bubbles has “claimed” a few favorite toys that are HERS---and hers alone!!!---and she’s willing to defend her right to have them! Her foster mom has implemented an easy solution—take the toy away---problem solved!

Bubbles would LOVE to be adopted with Oscar B.  Bubbles and Oscar love each other and have been together since puppyhood. They eat,  sleep, and play well together. However, Bubbles is the more dominant one and should be fine alone or with another companion. Bubbles has a spunky doxie attitude, but is not an alpha female and we expect her to transition just fine. She is fine with her siblings in her foster home and gets along well with both male and female. She does not like a leash and her siblings are helping her learn to do the “leash thing” and to let her know there is nothing to fear.  She’ll need some continued work with a leash in her new forever home.

If you have any questions or want more pictures, email his foster mom, Stephanie: smburmei@comcast.net   THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE!

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. Bubbles...TN's companion, Oscar B...TN (adopted) can also be seen on our website.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
