BIO:  I got lost from my people and ended up in the shelter in TN. Unfortunately, I had a really bad case of fleas, and it caused me to lose a lot of my pretty hair. I was in pretty sorry shape when the great people at AADR took me out of the shelter and sent me to my foster Mom. Since then, I’ve gotten rid of those pesky fleas, gotten lots of good food and TLC, and have learned how to be a much loved family member. I have learned to trust people and my foster sisters, how to follow the rules, and how to play again. I’m very playful, love to romp and run, and am a big chewer (on appropriate items, of course). I make cooing and purring sounds when I am content and snuggled up in the big bed with my foster Mom who says I’m a very special girl.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
