BIO:

Hi Everyone, I am Ruby. I am a 9-10 year old, sweet long hair red Dachshund. My foster momma calls me her precious baby girl and I am! I’m not going to lie; I came from a bad situation. The place I lived before put an ad out to give me away for free and a good lady got me out of the bad place and gave me to AADR. The good lady was sad because I didn’t have any teeth and wasn’t spayed. I lost my teeth from them rotting and falling out of my mouth, although we aren’t sure why, it could be because I wasn’t sure when I would get fed again and I was holding my food in my mouth. Even though I don’t have teeth, I eat just fine as long as it is softened.

I also have what is called “chronic dry eyes”. All this means is my eyes get dry and I need drops in my eyes every day. It’s not hard to put them in my eyes and I take them like a champ. I may be hard of hearing or I could have typical doxie selective hearing, my foster mom isn’t sure.

Now that I am spayed, I am ready to find my fur-ever home where I will only know LOVE, not fear. I am crate trained and house trained to a schedule. I love to go outside and explore the yard. I would really like a fenced in yard at my fur-ever home, but if it is not fenced, I am leash trained. I get along great with my foster brothers and sisters. I am such a good girl; I don’t even bother the cats that live here. I love cuddles and if you’ll let me, I’ll sleep all night long in the big bed.

I am for the special person that will love me forever.  I am such a sweetie and just want a home of my own this Christmas. Are you my fur-ever family? If so, email my foster mom Cathy at cathyjbm@aol.com and put an application in at www.allamericandachshundrescue.org.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
