Happy Tales

Every one of these Dachshunds has been rescued by an angel...

Harley's Brave Journey   Harley's Story is a great inspiration to AADR because it shows that no matter how desperate the situation, saving one life makes the ultimate difference. DeeAnn, Harley's foster mom, has included her personal account with Harley's amazing story and where he is now.Harley was found homeless and sick. He only had a 50% chance of survival. Now he is living a life of true happiness and contentment. Read More...

Stacy..VT

Thought you might like an update on Stacey. She's doing quite well, and she and Erwin are starting to play a lot more. We got her a sweater and a coat since she was always cold. Her first winter in the north is a bit chillier than she's used to. We all went to my parents' house in Springfield for Christmas, and we weren't sure what Stacey would think of being in a strange house with four other strange dogs, but she fit right in with the pack. All six dogs had their spots on the couch and everyone was prompt for meal times. (By everyone, I mean everyone with four feet and fur). I'm attaching some pictures of the trip. Stacey on the couch with her "cousins," Stacey using Kennedy's Christmas gift as a pillow, Stacey in her sweater and Stacey and Erwin hanging out with me after dinner. Hope you had a happy holiday. Allison

SIR ARTHUR..TN

Just wanted to let everyone know that Sir Arthur is doing well. We have decided to rename him "Sir Otis" since we already had an "Oscar." Oscar and Arthur was just too hard for us to say! He answers to it since we kept the"Sir" part.

Zelda..NY

To all my friends who know me, and love me anyway!!! I'm a new momma. . .please welcome Zelda, my spirited warrior princess! Rick and Matt wanted to give me a mini-dachshund puppy for my birthday. . .no one was more surprised by that than me. Anyway, I have nothing against puppies, but you know I would rather adopt an older dog. Everyone loves a puppy and they have no problem being adopted. I contacted a couple of places, but each of the dogs I inquired about were already adopted, which I now realize was a good thing. Zelda is 2 years old. She was rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri by the All American Dachshund Rescue, and was blessed to be placed in a foster home with two great parents, and dachshund brother (Fred) and sister (Emma). They all taught her so much, and helped Zelda find her true puppy self. We brought Zelda home on Saturday and she fit right in! Her foster parents gave us her bed, her towel, toys and a crate. I had put out two other beds for her, but Zelda discovered Diddy's bed and made it her own! Saturday morning Diddy was sitting on the floor next to my side of the bed, Zelda came up and plopped herself down right next to him!! Last night was hysterical. . .Diddy was in his bed, curled up under his blanket, so you couldn't see him. Zelda didn't want to stay in her bed, so she hopped up on Diddy's bed and and started to climb on top of him. HE STUCK HIS NOSE OUT OF HIS BLANKET SO FAST TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. . .WE WERE CRACKING UP. BUT THAT DIDN'T STOP ZELDA! She found a spot behind him, curled up, I put a blanket on her and she fell right to sleep! Today Matt called to say that Diddy was in his bed, Zelda came along and nudged him out so she could lie down. Guess she doesn’t want to share anymore. . .LOL! She's got lots of spirit!!! OK, I'll stop bragging about my little girl. Just love her so much! Now I want to thank some people. . I know this isn't the Academy Awards, so I will keep it brief!! LOL Thanks to the AADR for the work they do, thanks to David & Kathy, for fostering little girls like Zelda, thanks to the girls that were my references, and to Wilma who I met this past Thursday night, and does great work running "Wilma's Orphans". Isabel Matt

Charo..VA
Charo..VA

Hi! We renamed Charo, Mercy. She is with me always and has gotten bigger. Her eyes have gotten bigger and brighter also. I can't take a picture right now; but she's just the cutest. I'm making plans to spay. She gets her nails cut tomorrow and some new chew toys. Her potty training is coming along. After she eats, she loves to run in circles. She has learned to sit, lay down, and retrieve a mini tennis ball; as well as open her kennel door, get through both doorway gates, and wake me up when she needs to potty at night. LOL Getting her to consistently come to me has been a challenge. She wants me to chase her sometimes, which I refuse to do. She's walking some on the leash, that will come better later when it's not so cold. I have no regrets. She's everything I wanted. Thanks to all of you at All American Dachsund Rescue!

DIMPLES....SC
DIMPLES....SC

Bebe (Dimples) Diane, Just wanted to drop you a note and let you know that Bebe(formerly Dimples) has become a little princess. It took her a little while but she has really come out. She and Rags love each other, today Rags had to go to the vet and stay the day and she was absolutely lost. We are so grateful that she came into our life. I enjoy getting updates and mail. Have a blessed week, Eleanor Bradley
